ST MARY’S CATHEDRAL TO BROADCAST FUNERAL OF JOHN PAUL II

By Catholic Communications, Sydney Archdiocese

7 April 2005

The Pope’s funeral Mass will be telecast on large screens in St Mary’s Cathedral from 6.00 to 8.30pm on Friday, 8th April.  Young people in particular are being invited.

Bishop Porteous said: “John Paul II had great rapport with young people. This is an opportunity for them to celebrate his life and witness to his impact on the world and on their lives.”

Cardinal Pell phoned from Rome to request that the young be specially invited to this moment when the world farewells this great man.

The telecast will be interspersed with songs and witness, especially from young people.  The gathering will conclude with songs and celebrations well into the evening.
