Receiving God's ForgivenessMany people after watching the Passion of the Christ report a renewed sense of their own sinfulness. Many Catholics have been drawn to have their sins forgiven through the Sacrament of Penance, also known as Confession or Reconciliation. To help you prepare for the sacramental forgiveness that is offered by God through the death of Jesus on the cross, you may wish to pray this prayer. Remember in the Bible, Jesus always forgives the sins of those people that he encounters personally - often before they even ask. But Jesus never forgives the sins of the crowds of people - he wants us to go to him personally, individually to receive his forgiveness. When you confess your sins to a priest in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, in truth you confess them directly to Jesus, and it is he who forgives you through the ministry of the priest. There is no better way to prepare for Holy Week & Easter then to approach the Sacrament of Penance during this Lent. Prayer for ForgivenessDo you know the joy of being forgiven?
